Thomas Laskey
Mechanical Engineer
As an experienced mechanical engineer, I enjoy finding innovative solutions to complex and difficult problems. In my role with the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, I partnered with teams nationwide to deliver on joint projects and worked cross-functionally to develop process improvements to help scale our mechanical engineering capabilities. I've worked on personal projects developing outdoor gear and building complex tools used in building outdoor gear. Outside of work, I am an avid mountain climber, ice climber, and hiker and I enjoy playing the drums.

Innovative Mountaineering Snowshoe
I designed and built a functional prototype for an innovative snowshoes. These snowshoes have an integrated crampons that can quickly be connected/disconnected from the snowshoes. This allows the user to quickly and easily switch between snowshoes and crampons. The snowshoes also have a 3-way heel bar that will aid in uphill, downhill and level terrain.
Induction Heat Treating Oven
I built a heat treating oven that is capable of reaching 2000 degrees Fahrenheit using induction heating. Used for heat treating steel up to 4 inches in size. It uses a PID temperature controller to ensure a steady temperature within the heat chamber.

Custom 3D Printer Build
This is a FDM 3D printer I customized using the Sovol SV04 as a base. I doubled the length of the bed giving it a 300x600x300mm build volume. Added a dual zone heated bed, a heated enclosure and its capable of printing engineering grade materials.
